One Injured In Early Morning Shooting Involving Richland Sheriff’s Deputy
A Richland County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday after authorities responded to a disturbance in the northeast part of the county.
Deputies were dispatched around 12:52 a.m. on Dec. 10. During the response, a deputy discharged their weapon, injuring one individual.
The victim was transported to Sidney Health Center for treatment.
To ensure transparency, the sheriff’s office requested the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation to take over the case.
Most officer-involved shootings result in the officer being placed on administrative leave until the conclusion of the investigation. The original press release did not mention the current status of the invovled Richland County Sheriff's Deputy.
KEYZ has reached out to the Richland County Sheriff's Office to do so.
Officials say additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
