Red, White, and (Mostly) Friendly Rivalry: Is North Dakota the Most Patriotic?
In a world where every conversation seems to spiral into a debate (even over how to load the dishwasher), it’s refreshing to hit pause on the politics and focus on something we can all agree on: loving our country. That’s right—patriotism! It’s not just about waving flags or belting out the national anthem off-key (although both are highly encouraged), it’s about caring deeply for this country and the people in it—even if they root for the wrong football team (Skol Vikings).

Patriotism: More Than Flags and Fireworks
Patriotism shows up in all kinds of ways. Some folks fly Old Glory outside their front porch like clockwork. Others show their love by casting a ballot, lending a hand to a neighbor, or saying “thank you” to someone in uniform. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about pitching in and trying to make things better.

Fourth of July Fun and a Fifty-State Face-Off in Patriotism
And what better time to show some stars-and-stripes spirit than the Fourth of July? It’s the one day a year when it’s socially acceptable to wear flag-themed everything, eat suspicious amounts of hot dogs, and light fireworks that make the dog question your loyalty.
Just in time for the holiday, Newsweek shared WalletHub’s latest rankings of the most patriotic states in the U.S.—and let’s just say, things got competitive.
Montana came charging in at #2 with its strong military presence and enthusiastic volunteers. North Dakota proudly held the #7 spot—turns out, civic pride is as abundant as wheat fields around here. Minnesota made the top 10 too, at #9, proving that kindness is patriotic. South Dakota? Well, sitting at #30 isn’t too shabby… but maybe toss in a few more flags next year?
And in case you were wondering: Virginia took the crown for most patriotic, while Arkansas, bless its heart, brought up the rear at #50.
So this Independence Day, whether you’re #2 or #50, spark that grill, raise a sparkler, and remember—we’re all on Team USA.
