What North Dakota City Is Considered To Be The "Best Run?"

When moving to a new city, there are all sorts of things to consider, such as schools, parks, jobs, and health care.

It's sad to say, but I would bet a paycheck that many people are not taking into consideration just how well-run the cities are, but maybe they should. One North Dakota city made it to the top 20, in fact scoring 19th. The website WalletHub looked at every state to find out what cities were the best-run in America.

They looked at six metrics to make their determinations:

  • Financial Stability
  • Education
  • Health
  • Safety
  • Economy
  • Infrastructure & Pollution

After some serious number crunching, the result was a score for the "quality of city services" for each city, which they then divided by the "total budget per capita" to arrive at an "overall rank" for each city. As a result, one of the cities in North Dakota made it into the top 20.

Here's The "Best Run" City In North Dakota

I know what you're thinking. It's Fargo or Grand Forks. Would you be surprised if I told you it's Bismarck?

Their quality of services came in at #25, which is pretty good! What made Bismarck shine more was their "Total Budget per Capita" rank, which was the 35th best in the country. Out of 148 "ranked cities,"  that is good!

Here's hoping that in 2025 we see more North Dakota cities making the list! Oh, and if you're curious about other cities across the nation, you can see the whole list of cities, click here.
