North Dakota Prepares For Surge In Visitors This July 4th
Gov. Kelly Armstrong on Tuesday signed an executive order directing state agencies to prepare personnel and resources to assist with anticipated demand during America 250 celebrations over the July 4 holiday, including the grand opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.
Under the order, all state agencies are directed to review and implement preparedness and response plans as appropriate, maintain high levels of readiness to ensure personnel and resources are available for deployment, and coordinate with the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services to support monitoring and preparedness activities.
State officials said the library’s grand opening, along with other America 250 events, is expected to significantly increase visitation and travel across North Dakota. The influx of visitors could elevate the risk of public safety incidents, including wildfires, medical emergencies and traffic congestion, while also placing added strain on local infrastructure and emergency response systems.

Agencies have already been working with local officials to address logistical needs tied to the library opening and related events. The executive order is intended to ensure a coordinated, statewide approach to public safety and emergency preparedness during one of the busiest anticipated travel periods of the year.
