North Dakota Living: Are Our Homes Really That Spacious?
Have you ever walked into someone’s house and thought, “Wow, this place is huge!” Or perhaps you’ve felt the opposite, wondering if your cozy abode measures up to the homes around you. Well, wonder no more! We’ve got the scoop on how home sizes compare in our region.
According to the Ascent, the median home size in the United States sits at around 2,014 square feet. But when you break it down by state, things get interesting.
For those of you in North Dakota, the land of wide-open spaces and, apparently, wide-open living rooms, the average home is a spacious 2,190 square feet. That’s enough space to play hide-and-seek with a decent level of difficulty! Plus, at a median price of $139.12 per square foot, you get a lot of bang for your buck.
Next door in Montana, where you might need a little more room for all that outdoor gear, homes average around 2,200 square feet, just edging out North Dakota. But, brace yourselves: the median price per square foot in Montana skyrockets to $324.53. It’s beautiful country, but it’ll cost you!
Meanwhile, in South Dakota, things are a bit more modest. The average home size drops to about 1,915 square feet, still cozy but not as expansive as its northern neighbors. With a median price per square foot of $181.86, South Dakota offers a balance between space and affordability.
Finally, in the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota strikes a middle ground with homes averaging around 2,026 square feet. The median price per square foot comes in at $197.46, making it a solid option for those who want a bit of room without breaking the bank.
So, how does your home size stack up? Whether you’re in a sprawling mansion or a snug bungalow, there’s no right or wrong – just different strokes (or square feet) for different folks!
