State Powerhouse Sent Home At Day 4 Of ND State AA Legion Baseball
Day 4 of the North Dakota AA American Legion Baseball Tournament opened Thursday morning at Aafedt Stadium with a pair of elimination-round matchups that saw Bismarck overpower Williston early, and Minot edge out Fargo Post 2 in a tightly contested battle.
Game 11: Williston Keybirds vs Bismarck Governors
The hometown Williston Keybirds had the crowd behind them Thursday morning, but the momentum didn’t last long. After Williston scratched across an early run in the top of the first on a Bridger Johnson RBI single, the Bismarck Governors stormed back with a seven-run bottom half that flipped the game on its head—and ultimately decided the outcome.
Bismarck’s offensive outburst featured four hits and capitalized on defensive miscues. The biggest blow came off the bat of catcher Ryker Zeits, who launched a three-run homer over the left-field fence to cap the inning. It would prove to be more than enough as the Governors cruised to an 8-1 victory.
Jaxon Herrmann earned the win on the mound for Bismarck, tossing three innings and striking out five while allowing no earned runs. Williston’s Jaxon Jeanotte took the loss, charged with seven runs—just one earned—in two-thirds of an inning.
Bridger Johnson went 2-for-3 with the lone RBI for the Keybirds, while Bismarck racked up nine hits in total. Zeits led the team with three RBIs despite just one hit, and both Cash Wieisenberger and Evan Fuchs added two hits apiece.
With the win for Bismarck, they advanced into the 4:30 pm Wednesday game against West Fargo.
The loss ends the 2025 for the Williston Keybirds, finishing 7th in the tournament.
Game 12: Fargo Post 2 vs Minot Vistas
Thursday’s 1:00 p.m. game saw Minot and Fargo Post 2 locked in a classic duel between arms, with the Vistas squeaking out a 3-2 win thanks to timely hitting and steady pitching.
Minot struck first with a groundout RBI from Brody Mueller in the top of the first, but Fargo answered in the bottom half with a game-tying RBI single by Jonah DeJong. The teams traded runs again in the fourth and fifth innings—a solo homer from Minot’s Braden Nelson and an RBI double from Fargo’s Caden Nelson—before Minot pulled ahead for good in the seventh.
Tre Stewart’s clutch RBI single proved to be the difference, scoring Braden Nelson to give Minot the 3-2 lead.
Mason Stewart went six innings for the Vistas, scattering five hits and two runs while picking up the win. Gannon Hedberg came on in relief to earn the save. For Fargo, starter Caden Nelson was sharp, striking out eight in six innings of two-run ball, but DeJong was tagged with the loss in relief.
With the win, Minot advanced to take on Dickinson to play the 7:30 pm game on Wednesday.
Fargo Post 2 has been eliminated in 6th with the loss to the Vistas.

Here is the current tournament bracket through 12 games.
