
Buckle Up North Dakota: It Could Be A Turbulent Tuesday
The Captain has turned on the "Fasten Your Seatbelt" sign for severe weather potential across much of North Dakota.
After some strong thunderstorms this morning, which brought us some heavy rain, some brief gusty winds, and some penny-sized hail, we are expecting another round this afternoon that could be more severe.
Very robust thunderstorms are likely across much of North Dakota again this afternoon, prompting the Storm Prediction Center from the National Weather Service to put much of central North Dakota in a Level 2 risk for severe weather.
What are the impacts for today's round of potentially severe weather?
This will primarily be a hail and wind event. We could see hail the size of golf balls and damaging winds as high as 70 miles per hour. A tornado or two is also possible.
Portions of southwest, south-central, and southeast North Dakota look to have the greatest likelihood of severe weather this afternoon.
Even some of the most well-known storm chasers have been talking about the severe weather potential across North Dakota all this week.

We can expect some heavy precipitation in the Bismarck-Mandan area today, with upwards of 3/4 of an inch of rain.
Another round of potentially severe weather across North Dakota is possible on Thursday and lingering into Friday.
Things should settle down just in time for the weekend, as cooler weather is expected on Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures in the upper 70s.
