Seeing Double! Twin Birth Rates Soar in South Dakota, Iowa
Your likelihood of seeing twins in the Tri-State (South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota) area is much greater than in a lot of other places across America.
Recently, Gambling.com took a look at the latest birth numbers from the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) and those figures show that the frequency of multiple births in both the Mount Rushmore State and Hawkeye State far exceed the national average.
From 2018-2020 there were 1,198 sets of twins born in South Dakota. That's a rate of 34.9 sets of twins per 1,000 births in the state, which is the fifth-highest rate in the U.S.
Iowa is right behind with 3,812 twins born during that same time; a rate of 34.20 per 1,000 births.

And while Minnesota landed just outside the top ten in twin birth rates, the North Star State is in the top ten when it comes to the rate of triplets born.
From 2018-2020, Minnesota welcomed 224 sets of triplets, a rate of 113.80 per every 1000.00 births.
That's the sixth-highest rate in America.
