
Two Killed, One Seriously Injured in North Dakota Traffic Accident
A tragic traffic accident occurred on September 28, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m. CDT at the intersection of Highway 85 and 23rd Street, resulting in two fatalities and serious injuries.

Fatal T-Bone Collision on Highway 85 in North Dakota After Truck Fails to Stop at Intersection
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2013 Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Highway 85 approaching 23rd Street when it was struck in a T-bone collision by a 2006 Peterbilt truck pulling a trailer. The truck, traveling eastbound on 23rd Street, reportedly failed to stop at the posted stop sign, leading to the impact. Both vehicles ultimately came to rest in the southeast ditch of the intersection.

The Ford Fusion was occupied by a 24-year-old male driver and two passengers from Watford City. The front seat passenger, a 25-year-old woman, and a 5-year-old female passenger in the rear seat were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Bismarck for treatment. All occupants were reported to be wearing seatbelts.
The driver of the Peterbilt truck, a 41-year-old man from Bybee, Tennessee, was not injured and was also wearing a seatbelt. Authorities have confirmed that charges related to the crash are under investigation.
North Dakota Emergency Responders Rush to Scene of Highway 85 Crash Amid Good Weather Conditions
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the North Dakota Highway Patrol, McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, McKenzie Rural Fire, Watford City Police Department, and McKenzie County Ambulance. Road and weather conditions at the time of the crash were reported as good.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident, urging anyone with information to come forward. The community mourns the loss of life in this devastating accident and reminds drivers to exercise caution at intersections and adhere to posted traffic signs.
