A tragic incident unfolded on March 18, 2024, along ND Highway 23, approximately 7 miles west of New Town, ND. Yesterday evening, at around 6:20pm, a 2020 Ram pickup, driven by a 47-year-old male from Blaine, MN, was westbound on the highway. For reasons yet to be determined, the pickup truck veered across the centerline into the eastbound lanes, colliding with a 2023 Peterbilt truck.

The aftermath of the collision saw the Ram pickup come to a halt in the center of the highway, facing southward, while the Peterbilt ended up in the south ditch of the eastbound lanes. Tragically, despite wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, the driver of the Ram 1500 succumbed to his injuries the following day, on March 19, 2024, after being flown to Trinity Hospital.

Thankfully, the driver of the Peterbilt, identified as John Youngblood, aged 53, from Ross, ND, emerged from the collision without sustaining any injuries. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing their seatbelts, which likely played a crucial role in minimizing further harm.
