Nurse’s Compassion Extends Beyond Care, Ensuring Family Finds Hope and Help

One nomination shared a touching story of a patient new to the area who was struggling to provide for a large family. Instead of simply referring them to resources, Hallesy personally connected the patient to community services, helped them access food, clothing, and job opportunities, and even used her own money to purchase gift cards, envelopes, and stamps to assist with service applications.

The nomination stated, “Most people in this situation would give this patient a number to call for help, but Angie ensured that this family was clothed, fed and felt safe and welcomed. When I think of extraordinary, I think of Angie. She has impacted so many of her patients’ lives in a positive way.”

The DAISY Award, created by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, honors nurses for their compassionate and skillful care. Barnes’ family established the foundation after experiencing firsthand the profound difference nurses make in the lives of patients and their families.

Hallesy received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved sculpture called A Healer’s Touch. Congratulations, Angie, and thanks for making Williston even better!
