Flamingos Take Over Ray, North Dakota Yards for a Cause
Ray, North Dakota, has plenty to be proud of—wide skies, hometown spirit, and now, a group of ambitious students who know how to make an impact while keeping things fun. The Ray FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) group isn’t just hitting the books; they’re rolling up their sleeves and launching two community fundraisers that combine charity with a good dose of humor (and hamburgers).

Flock Out Cancer: Flamingo Fun with a Purpose in Ray
First up is Flock Out Cancer, a fundraiser that will run throughout October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Picture this: you wake up, shuffle to your window with a cup of coffee, and discover a flock of bright pink flamingos camped out in your yard. Don’t worry—you haven’t suddenly been transported to Florida, and it’s not a prank from a long-lost cousin. It’s the work of the FBLA students. The twist? To remove those flamingos, you’ll need to make a donation. It’s a playful way to bring laughter to the community while also raising money and awareness for a serious cause.

Grill, Give, and Game Day: Pre-Game Cookout to Benefit Ray Food Pantry
Not into flamingos? No problem. The second event is a Pre-Game Cookout supporting the Ray Food Pantry, set for Friday, October 3rd, ahead of the Ray Powers Lake vs. Stanley football showdown. Thanks to the generosity of the Ray Farmers’ Union Elevator, NCC, and the Ray Fire Department, the grills will be hot and the menu will be classic—burgers, hot dogs, chips, and salads. Instead of set prices, it’s a free-will donation, with every dollar raised going straight to the Ray Food Pantry.
These events prove that when you mix creativity, community spirit, and a little pink plastic flair, you get more than just a fundraiser—you get memories, smiles, and support for neighbors who need it most. IF you have questions or might want to get those flamingos moved to a friend's place, you can call Tyler Deering at 701-641-0381.
