Williston, ND (KEYZ) The Red Roses, a band that's "a little different" than those which have graced the stage previously, comes to Williston Thursday night to close out the Summer Nights on Main 2022 season.

The Chicago-based band bills itself as "Alternative rock. Indie pop.," playing some of the tunes on which Millennials, in particular, grew up.  Though her age doesn't place her among millennials, Events Coordinator with the Williston Downtowners Association Naudia Russo is especially excited for the band's arrival.

"This band is a little different than our normal bands," said Russo.  "They are more alternative, indie hits.  Examples are [from artists] like Wheezer, Cold Play, The Strokes.  I'm very excited to see what they bring."

Russo says The Red Roses were chosen specifically by Week 9 sponsor Williston State College who will also be out in force Thursday evening.

"Williston State College will be working the Beer Garden, they'll be working our ticket tent, they'll be doing set-up, tear-down, having their own tent.  They're so excited to be a part and to help out wherever they can."

Be sure to get-in on WSC's 50/50 raffle as well adds Russo.

Russo Reflects on First Season at the Helm of Summer Nights on Main

Hired as Events Coordinator for the WDA back in mid-June, Russo dove right into the deep end of the pool, getting the 2022 Summer Nights on Main concert series off the ground and nurturing its success each week as new bands came in to play for expectant Williston crowds.

Russo says closing things down for the season is "bittersweet," but she is gratified by how well the concerts went overall and by how much of a draw the annual event is not just for locals but for visitors as well.

"The thing that the WDA is for, we're increasing the quality of life but also making Williston an area for people to want to come with their families and visit.  Now those Washington boys are gonna remember forever when they were in the Babe Ruth World Series and they came to Summer Nights on Main and listened to Slamabama.  It's just a great thing to have.  It's a great outlook to have."

Russo says roughly three teams of visiting young baseball players came through with their families last Thursday, August 18 to enjoy the featured band Slamabama and to partake of all the other Summer Nights on Main festivities.

Until Next Year . . .

As she gets ready for what will no doubt be an equally busy Fall, Russo thanks all the volunteers, sponsors, and weekly partners for their assistance and support throughout the nine week series.

"Thank you Williston for being so welcoming and understanding during my first trial of the year.  I appreciate you guys all, and thank you so much."
