Williston, ND (KEYZ) - A dangerous fugitive has been on the run in Williams county after evading police since  last Thursday.

Local Law enforcement are asking for your assistance in help bringing in the fugitive, who is considered armed and dangerous.

The Williston Police Department is still actively searching for Higdon, and are asking for the public’s assistance with any information his location.

The Williston Police Department with the assistance of multiple agencies has been working extensively on this investigation leading to multiple charges being signed with the Williams County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Currently Higdon has active warrants for the following charges:

  • Criminal Attempt/Murder (Attempted Murder) (Class A Felony)
  • Aggravated Assault (Class C Felony)
  • Criminal Trespass (Class C Felony)
  • Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer (Class C Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (Class C Felony)

Update: 11:30PM 10/3/2022

The subject of a domestic dispute and ensuing chase, Leonard Higdon, Jr., is still being pursued by local law enforcement, according to Williston Police.

The agency stated in a Facebook post and email that "Law enforcement is continuing aggressively searching for Higdon with the assistance of multiple agencies." The public's cooperation with any information regarding Higdon's whereabouts is still requested by the Williston Police Department. If you come into contact with Higdon, stay away and call the police right away.

Update: 4:32 PM 9/29/2022

The Williston Police Department responded to the 2400 block of 37th Place for a report of a domestic violence incident on September 29th, 2022 at approximately 3:40am.

The suspect, Leonard Barton Higdon Jr, fled the scene and was involved in a multi-agency vehicle pursuit.

Higdon’s vehicle was recovered in the 5900 block of Highway 85 north of Williston. Higdon fled on foot and was unable to be located at that time.

Members of the Williston Police Department and the Williams County Sheriff’s Office were able to identify a possible location of Higdon.

With efforts from the Williams County Sheriff’s Office and the Williams County SWAT team, a search warrant was executed at a rural location within Williams County, ND. Despite the efforts of multiple agencies, Higdon is still at large.

Higdon is believed to be armed and dangerous.  Local Law Enforcement is asking the public’s assistance with any information on a possible location of Higdon.

If you see Higdon, please do not approach and contact law enforcement immediately.
