On March 14–16, the Williston Area Woodworkers will be holding their 31st annual spring display at the James Memorial Art Center. You are cordially invited to attend.

Here's a little information about the Williston Area Woodworkers:

This group has been around since 1986 and has been doing great things in the community ever since. One thing that sticks out in my mind is all the years the Williston Woodworkers have been at the Upper Missouri Valley Fair. Their first appearance at the fair was in 1990. From open to close each day, this dedicated and patient group works with kids of all ages, scrolling names, logos, and more for free. They have also set up a shop in Watford City at the McKenzie County Fair.

While visiting with Tom Bloch, one of the original members of the Williston Woodworkers Association, he mentioned several projects the group has done or been involved with over the years.

Woodworkers Craft for a Cause: Every Penny Goes Back to the Community

When this group gets things together for their shows, you might think the proceeds raised would go back to the group. That is not the case at all. All their silent auction items showcased at the fair are sold, and the woodworkers donate all the money raised to the fair. This amounts to a few thousand dollars a year, and the same will happen at this latest show. The same will happen for this event. All proceeds from the silent auction will be donated back to the James Memorial Art Center.

What will be showcased at this show?

You can see examples of carving, wood burning, turning, and scroll sawing. Be sure to bid on all the silent auction items at the show because all the money raised will be donated back to the James Memorial Art Center or other charities in need around the area. Come and meet this great group of people, and maybe get involved with them. They're always looking for new members, and they are all a great group to be around and learn from.
