The City of Williston is asking residents to conserve water, as high levels of turbidity in the Missouri River have slowed operations at the municipal water treatment plant.

According to city officials, heavy river silt has caused increased cloudiness in the water, forcing the plant to temporarily reduce production to ensure all treated water meets safety standards. Current output is around 2 million gallons per day—well below the city’s average demand of 6 to 7 million gallons.

Officials say the system is operating at roughly 55% capacity, enough to meet short-term needs. Updates will be posted at cityofwilliston.com
