Williston State College To Host District 15 Girls Basketball This Week
February is always bittersweet in the Mon-Dak area. The road to the postseason starts, and our area high schools are getting things in motion to participate in tournament play.
District 15 Girls' basketball starts on February 9th and runs for three days at Williston State College. Eight teams will meet to decide who the District 15 champion will be, and who will advance to the regional tournament. I talked with Brandon Delvo, Marketing Director at WSC, and he pointed out that the facility is the perfect spot to host this tournament. WSC has great seats, and great parking, and is the perfect opportunity to show families and students just how good of an educational and athletic institution we have in our region.
8 teams make up District 15 including Parshall, White Shield, Trenton, Lewis & Clark/North Shore, New Town, Alexander, Mandaree, and Williston Trinity Christian.
The opening round starts at 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 9th with 4 games. There will be another day of action on Friday with 4 more games starting at 3:00 pm. Saturday features 3 more games with the championship game at 7:00 p.m.
There is a daily admission charge for those that attend.
- Adults - $8.00
- Students, seniors & Veterans - $5.00
- Under 5 years old - Free
If you are unable to attend the games, Titus Stenberg will have all the games on Dakota Country Z-96.1 Titus has a keen eye and calls a great game. He points out that each of the teams matches up fairly well, and they all have great coaches. With the fanbase each has, it should be another fun tournament. Good luck to all participants, and welcome to the postseason!
