Williston, North Dakota Parents Asked to Share Thoughts on 4-Day School Week
Williston Basin School District #7 is seeking community feedback on a potential shift to a 4-day school week. Williston residents are encouraged to participate in the district’s survey, open now through March 26, as part of the ongoing 4-Day School Week Feasibility Study for the 2025–2026 school year.
Williston Schools Seek Community Input on 4-Day School Week Feasibility
The study aims to assess whether a 4-day week could work for the district while maintaining academic quality, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability. A representative committee—made up of principals, teachers, and counselors—is reviewing research, analyzing data, and considering both operational and financial impacts. Community input is a key part of the process, ensuring that any potential change reflects the needs and opinions of families, staff, and stakeholders in the district.

Your Input Matters
District officials emphasize that no decisions have been made at this time. The earliest possible implementation of a 4-day week would be the 2027–2028 school year, giving the district ample time to study the potential benefits and challenges.
The survey offers residents the chance to share their opinions, whether they support a shorter school week or have concerns about its effects on students, families, and staff. Feedback collected will help inform recommendations presented to the District Administration later this year.
