Williston North Dakota Gears Up for 3rd Annual Sugar Bust Diabetes 5K and Fun Run
If you're a runner, a fitness nut, or someone who likes to support a great local cause, this is for you. CHI St. Alexius Health is thrilled to unveil online registration for the eagerly anticipated 3rd annual Sugar Bust Diabetes 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. Scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Spring Lake Park, this event promises an engaging day of fitness and community support.
Open to participants of all ages and fitness levels, the event offers something for everyone, whether you're a competitive runner or simply want to enjoy a leisurely walk or jog in support of a noble cause. The festivities kick off with a 5K run and a 1 mile Walk/1 Mile Kids Fun Run, followed by a free community fair featuring inflatables, outdoor games, local vendors, and delicious food, providing an atmosphere of camaraderie and fun for all attendees.
For those keen to get ahead of the game, pre-day registration will be available on June 14, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McAuley Room, CHI St. Alexius Health Williston, where participants can pick up their SWAG bags. On the actual race day, June 15, 2024, race check-in and SWAG bag collection start at 8:45 a.m. The 5K will start promptly at 10 a.m., with the 1 Mile Walk and the 1 Mile Kids Fun Run following at 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., respectively. The festivities continue until 3 p.m. with the free Community Fair.
Deb Bronson, RN, BSN, CDE, a diabetes educator at CHI St. Alexius Health, highlighted the event's significance in supporting diabetes patients in the community, stating, "Not all insurance plans cover the tests needed for diabetes management. This event aims to alleviate the financial burden patients may face upon receiving a diabetes diagnosis."
Funds raised from the event will contribute to essential services such as yearly eye exams, dental exams, A1C tests, and educational programs for diabetes patients. To sponsor the event or register to run, visit here. Register before May 13, 2024, to guarantee a t-shirt and SWAG bag, with availability while inventory lasts for later registrations.
