The City of Williston is gearing up for its annual fall Clean Williston event, set to take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 8 a.m. to noon. In case of bad weather, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday, October 5. Any changes will be announced through the city’s social media channels and website.

This year's event will be headquartered at the Williston Public Works facility, located at 1121 5th Street East. Clean Williston is a long-standing tradition, held every spring and fall for over 20 years, aiming to beautify the community.

Both individuals and groups are encouraged to participate, with registration available online for one of 40 designated zones. Volunteers can sign up in advance at http://bit.ly/CleanWilliston, but those who don’t pre-register are welcome to show up and will be assigned to a zone on the day of the event.

Participants are asked to meet at the Public Works facility at 8 a.m., where they will be provided with a free Clean Williston t-shirt (quantities and sizes are limited), a light breakfast, and necessary equipment such as safety vests, gloves, and garbage bags. Once the cleanup is underway, full bags can be left roadside in each zone for pickup or dropped off at Public Works.

In addition to general trash collection, Public Works will also be accepting specific materials at the event site, including wood, metal, and tires. Wood, including trees and construction materials, will be accepted for free, and Pacific Steel and Recycling will provide a container for metal items. Residents can also drop off up to four tires per person.

The Williston Recycle Center trailer will be on-site to collect cardboard, tin and aluminum cans, and white paper, all free of charge. Organizers encourage participants to break down cardboard boxes and leave cans and paper loose rather than bagged.

For more information about the event, interested parties can contact Mitch Melberg, the city’s Communications Director, at 701-713-3800 or mmelberg@ci.williston.nd.us.
