A woman died Sunday afternoon during a boat launching incident at the Springbrook Dam, west of Williston, after extensive efforts to revive her were unsuccessful, according to local authorities.

The Williston Fire Department said crews were dispatched at 2:24 p.m. to the boat launch on 58th Street Northwest following reports of an unconscious woman in the water. The Epping Fire Department and the Williams County Sheriff’s Office were also called to assist.

When the first Williston ambulance arrived around 2:39 p.m., firefighters from Epping had already removed the woman from the water and started CPR. Williston medics took over resuscitation efforts at the scene before transporting her to CHI St. Alexius Health Williston Medical Center. Emergency staff there worked alongside paramedics, but she was pronounced dead after continued attempts to save her.

The woman’s name and additional details about the incident have not yet been released. The Williams County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and will provide further information once her family has been notified.
