New Williston City Commissioner Lucas Gjovig has been assigned to the portfolios of Public Works & Engineering and the Williston Basin International Airport by Williston Mayor Howard Klug.

Gjovig was appointed to the assignments at the June 24 City Commission meeting, Gjovig’s first meeting as commissioner.

Gjovig was selected out of 13 candidates who applied for the remainder of Tate Cymbaluk’s term as commissioner, which expires in June 2026.

Gjovig, a native of Williston, serves as the owner and CEO of GO Wireline also raises six children in Williston.

Gjovig commented on being a Williston native selected to represent his hometown on the commission. "Being from here, being a native, I care deeply about the roots of the community." He continued, "But being someone who moved away and has come back, has a family, and started a business, seeing Williston continue to grow and evolve is super important to me while retaining that small-town character and flavor that's made it so awesome."
