I was wandering through Walmart last night...you know, that “quick” trip that somehow turns into a cart full of things you didn’t know you needed, and guess what caught my eye? School supplies. Yep, the notebooks, glue sticks, and rainbow folders are officially back. That can only mean one thing: back-to-school season is just around the corner.

And while some of us might feel a little nostalgic seeing those rows of fresh pencils and shiny new backpacks, the Williston Police Department is putting that nostalgia to good use. Once again, they’re stepping up to make sure local kids are ready to tackle the new school year with confidence (and with fully stocked backpacks).

Here's How It Works

Families can submit an entry form for their student any time between now and August 6, 2025, at 10:00 PM. On August 7, the Williston Police Department will draw the names of 20 students who will each receive a backpack packed with supplies based on their school’s official list. Talk about setting kids up for success!

And don’t worry, these backpacks won’t gather dust waiting around. They’ll be ready for pickup the week of August 11–15, giving families plenty of time to get organized before that first day back. So, if you’d like to toss your hat in the ring (or your kid’s name in the drawing, in this case), just fill out the quick form at Williston Police Backpack Giveaway.

Big cheers to the Williston Police Department for doing more than just keeping our community safe, they’re making sure our youngest residents are geared up to learn, grow, and maybe even show off those cool new notebooks. Happy back-to-school season, Williston!
