Tetons vs Royals Men’s Pre-Game Primer
After a tough home loss against BSC, Williston State is back on the road looking to avoid the regular season sweep against Lake Region State.
The Third game of the Teton-Royals series will tip off at 8:30 pm CST.
The men's teams for the Tetons and Royals have already met twice this season, once in New Town, and the other in Williston. Both games were competitive with Lake Region winning the first on a buzzer beater, and the second in The Well by the final of 67-55.
Lake Region comes into the season with a 3-21 overall record and 2-13 in the Mon-Dak, and is currently on a six game losing streak.
The Royals are scoring 67.3 points per game on the season, while shooting 44.5% from the field and 37.8% from deep.
Ja'vion Byers leads the team in scoring with 18.1 points per game with Mayson Brown (11.2 ppg) also averaging double digits.
Williston State comes into the season with a 4-18 record overall in the season and 2-13 in the Mon-Dak Conference. The Tetons are averaging 64.2 points per game this season while shooting 38.8% from the field and 281.% from the perimeter.
The Tetons are led in scoring by Shaheed Muhammad with 17.7 points per game, with Abiodun Adedo (14.0 ppg) also scoring in double figures.
Three Things to Watch for:
1. Rebounding: While on the court rebounding is important, mentally rebounding from a game against BSC where the first time this season the Tetons took themselves out of competition in the game by getting in their own way by getting in their own heads. With a winnable game on the road and a chance to take the season series, the team has to come out mentally strong.
2. Distribution: Williston State is now presenting a four headed attack on offense, the team now has to adjust to make sure all of the scorers get enough chances to do work on the offensive end, which will inevitably make it easier for others on the court to score.
3. Going Cold: The Tetons have had a propensity to go on long cold stretches in games where shots are rolling off of the rim, or rattling out from beyond the arc. When that happens they need to double down on doing the little things right, making extra passes, setting hard screens, and good off ball movement to make sure they can either get to the line or get someone the best look possible.
