The Williston State Tetons Men's Basketball heading out west to Montana to take on the Dawson Community College Buccaneers tonight in a Mon-Dak Conference battle.

The second game of the Teton-Bucs double header will tip off at 8:30 pm CST.

The men's teams for the Tetons and Dawson have already met once this season in Glendive.  That game got away from the Tetons early and ended up falling by the final of 93-60.

Dawson comes into the season with a 15-4 overall record and 9-1 in the Mon-Dak, and is currently on a 6 game win streak with are a half game ahead of Bottineau for the top spot in the Mon-Dak conference standings.

The Bucs scoring 82.8 points per game on the season, while shooting 43.4% from the field and 33.2% from deep.

Joe Mpoyo leads the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game, with Damon Gros Ventre (11.8 ppg) also averaging double digits.

Williston State comes into the season with a 2-14 record overall in the season an 1-9 in the Mon-Dak Conference.  The Tetons are averaging 62.3 points per game this season while shooting 38.3% from the field and 26.7% from the perimeter.

The Tetons are led in scoring by Shaheed Muhammad with 18.1 points per game, with Abiodun Adedo (13.6 ppg) also scoring in double figures.

Three Things to Watch for:

1. 3-Pointers:  Two of the last three games for the Tetons have saw them attempt more 3-pointers than 2-pointers throughout the game. Last game was the first time since December third that the team shot over 30 percent from beyond the ark, making the high volume of outside shots more bearable.

2. Continuing To Grow:  Deitz, Gonsioroski, and Rankin have continued to make big strides over the last few games of 2023, with all three logging heavy minutes.  The Tetons are still waiting for the firework display when all three catch fire in the same game.

3. Finding Room to Work: Muhammad and Adedo have been clamped down on lately bogging down the Teton offense.  If some early outside shots can fall from other players, allowing a release valve, these two will be able to cook, and can score early and often. .
