The calendar says July 19! Where did summer go? Despite being roughly a month away from school starting, there is still a ton of things to do right in your own backyard.

The North Dakota State Fair kicks off on Friday. It’s the state fair. You can always find something to enjoy. Rides, food, concerts...they have it all! It’s eight days of fun in Minot, July 22-30.

July 21 Summer Nights Band

For fun closer to home, be sure to take in Summer Nights on Main. This weekly concert on Main Street is put on by the Williston Downtowners Association. You can enjoy great music from regional bands. There’s at least ten different food options. Everything from corn on the cob to slushies; you will not leave hungry. It's every Thursday night until August 25, so grab the kids, put on your comfy shoes, and take in what we lovingly call SNOM in Williston!

The boys of summer are still playing these days. There are two tournaments coming to the region. The ND State A Legion tournament lands in Watford City July 29 - August 1 and will be played on one of the newest fields in the state, Roughrider Field, located at the Rough Rider Center. The best of the best from the state are coming to play baseball. Come support our area teams, the Williston Oilers and the Watford City Walleye. All eyes turn to Williston in August as the city plays host to the 2022 Babe Ruth World Series, a competition for 14-year-olds, at Aafedt Stadium August 13-20. At least one thousand people are coming for the drone show, fireworks, Lee Greenwood, food and of course...baseball! This is the fifth Babe Ruth World Series to be held in Williston, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

That’s a lot to take in, and there’s even more coming up!

The Richland County Fair...Chokecherry Festival...and the Williston Air Show are just some of the events rounding out a great summer in the Mon-Dak region, and which I will highlight in the weeks to come.

By the way, If you have events coming up, let me know. Email me at scott.haugen@townsquaremedia.com. I would be happy to include them. Enjoy what’s left of our summer, and if you see any of the organizers putting these events on...thank them! They are making our area even better with their efforts.
