Stay Cool, Stay Safe: Preparing for the Upcoming Heatwave in North Dakota
The dog days of summer are still going strong, and forecasts indicate that the upcoming week will be unusually warm. When you add in the smoke that is floating into the region, being outside is becoming an extremely unpleasant experience. This coming week is expected to be quite hot in the Mon-Dak region.

Due to the fact that hot air is moving in, an excessive heat watch will begin on Tuesday at nine o'clock in the morning and will continue to be in effect until nine o'clock on Thursday. There is a possibility that temperatures in eastern Montana will spike into the triple digits by Wednesday.
Remember that this is located directly to the west of us. Wednesday will bring hot weather to North Dakota, but the day of the week that everyone is looking at is Thursday when temperatures in the western sections of the state could reach 100 degrees.
Staying cool in July, where temperatures can soar, involves a mix of practical strategies and creative solutions.
First, hydration is key; drinking plenty of water helps regulate body temperature and prevents dehydration. According to the Mayo Clinic, adults should drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily, more if engaging in outdoor activities. Another effective method is using fans and air conditioning to maintain a cool indoor environment.
The U.S. Department of Energy suggests setting your thermostat to 78 degrees Fahrenheit when you're home and raising it when you're away to balance comfort and energy efficiency.
Additionally, wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing made of breathable fabrics like cotton can enhance comfort. Seeking shade during peak sun hours and utilizing cool compresses on pulse points are also beneficial.
Combining these techniques lets you stay cool and comfortable during the dog days of summer.
