The weekend is fast approaching, but if you’ve got more month left at the end of your money, going out might seem a bit... out of budget. If that’s the case, you may be eyeing a side hustle to bring in a few extra bucks. But what’s the most popular side gig in our region? Thanks to a recent study from Casinos.com, we’ve got the scoop.

They used Google Trends to measure interest in 24 of the nation’s favorite side hustles over the past year, from September 13, 2023, to September 13, 2024. The results? It turns out, people in the region aren’t shy about rolling up their sleeves for a little extra cash!

Let’s break it down by state:

In Montana, our furry friends come first! The top side hustle is pet sitting, followed by DoorDash, and, yes, pet sitting again. If you love animals, Montana might just be the perfect spot to turn your love for pets into profit.

Over in South Dakota, online tutoring reigns supreme, proving that brains equal bucks. Next up is babysitting, for those who enjoy taking care of little ones, and DoorDash for anyone who wants to bring home the bacon—literally, in some cases!

In Minnesota, folks are big on multitasking, with babysitting, day trading, and DoorDash taking the top spots. So whether you’re watching the kids or watching the stock market, Minnesotans are staying busy.

And finally, North Dakota, the Peace Garden State, shares the love for babysitting, DoorDash, and trading.

Say what you will about these side gigs, but one thing’s for sure: no one in the region is afraid of hard work! So, if you’re short on funds but long on energy, there’s a side hustle waiting for you
