Road Improvements Coming to 26th Street in Williston ND
If you do any driving at all in Williston, you should prepare for some changes along 26th Street in the coming weeks as Knife River begins a major improvement project. The work is scheduled to start on Monday, April 14, 2025, and will run from University Avenue to 1st Avenue West, affecting traffic in the area.

What to Expect
The project will be done in two phases:
Concrete Removals and Replacements
This first part of the project will involve removing and replacing sections of concrete along 26th Street.
Traffic control cones and barrels will be in place, leading to possible lane closures and transitions.
Drivers should expect some delays while navigating through the construction zone.
Mill and Overlay Work Will Be Done At Night
When the concrete phase wraps up, Knife River will start milling and overlay work from May 5 to May 8.
This portion of the project will take place overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
26th Street will be fully closed during these hours, including access to businesses and buildings along the road.
Plan Ahead for Delays
If you do take 26th Street on a regular basis, you should plan to use alternate routes or leave a little earlier for the daily drive to work. Delays will continue until traffic control is removed at the completion of the project.
Hopefully this will be a smooth project, and when it wraps up, it will be a much better road to drive on. Watch for updates as the improvements progress, remain patient, and drive safely through construction zones!
