Could the Best Pie in Williston North Dakota Earn You $500 This Summer?
The official countdown to the Upper Missouri Valley Fair shows 22 days. All the things the fair has to offer will be talked about in the coming days, but there is another opportunity to show off your skills and make a few bucks in the process.
Calling all pie lovers! Get ready for the most delicious showdown of the year - the Pie Baking Contest at the UMV Fair! This is one of many events to kick off the fair on Wednesday, June 24. Pie enthusiasts from far and wide will showcase their baking skills and tantalize taste buds for prize money.

From Classic Favorites to Creative Surprises
Last year, over 40 pies were submitted for judging. From classic apple and pecan pies to unique creations like chocolate bacon surprise, there was a pie for every palate. How fun would it be to get 50 or more pies for this fun competition?

The Competition Is Sweet—and So Are the Payouts
Organizers are featuring 3 categories this year, and the fair has ponied up some decent prize money to make it worth your effort.

- Third place adult - $100
- First place youth - $250
- Second place - youth - $100

I mentioned that three categories will be featured. Organizers have added a savory category! That means a chicken pot pie, or even a shepherd's pie, will be accepted. The payout is good too. There will only be one winner, and that pays $300.00!
No pre-registration is required, and pies can be brought to the multi-purpose building lobby from 7:30 am to 10:30 am. A recipe needs to be attached to each entry. After the pies are judged, they are immediately moved to the 4H pop shop to be sold. After serving 20 years with the fair, I can assure you they sell fast!
With around 3 weeks before the contest, you have plenty of time to start planning what pie you want to bake and submit, and let me be the first to volunteer to taste and quality control!
