MT Teachers Can Gain Hands-on Wildlife Education This August
On Friday, August 1st from 4 to 10:30 p.m., Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will have a free Project Wild Teacher Professional Development at the Fort Peck Interpretive Center. An evening field trip at the Fort Peck Downstream Campground with an FWP bat biologist is part of the package.
Teachers will participate in an enjoyable, practical workshop led by FWP professionals that includes FWP materials and the award-winning Project Wild curriculum. Teachers will take part in a number of activities with a nature theme that they can apply in their classrooms at home. Teachers who attend the workshop will receive the curriculum guide and additional resources free of charge, as well as 6.5 continuing education credits.
By attending, educators can learn how to include fish and wildlife education into their classes. Teachers will also receive curriculum guide lessons that they can replicate with their students in hands-on group settings.
Project Wild and FWP activities will be led by Ryan Schmaltz from FWP's Montana Wild education facility in Helena from 4 to 8 p.m. At 6 p.m., a complimentary dinner will be served.
The evening will be highlighted by a field trip with a bat scientist from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
Schmaltz can be reached at 406-444-9946 or rschmaltz@mt.gov for registration and other information.
