Montana FWP Wants More Input On Mule Deer Plan
After recently holding public seminars around the state to hear from the public, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks wants to make sure everyone's voice is heard when it develops its new Statewide Mule Deer Management Plan.
Mule deer hunters and anyone in the general public may post a comment on FWP's website through June 27th.
FWP Director Christy Clark underscored how valuable additional input is. "Although our workshop turnout was excellent, we want to maximize the chance for public input of all stakeholders," Clark continued, "We need to hear from you if you wish to share your ideas but cannot arrange a workshop."
Along with the most recent studies on mule deer numbers and management, the new Statewide Mule Deer Management Plan will represent public concerns FWP has received over the previous several years.
The revised strategy will offer FWP more all-encompassing direction as it manages mule deer and incorporate techniques and knowledge on management approaches addressing hunting harvest, mule deer habitat preservation, and herd health.

The goal of Montana's FWP is to manage for Montana's long-term welfare of mule deer resources and offer hunting opportunities that mirror the changing character of deer populations.
