Much of North Dakota saw a swath of 2 to 4 inches for its first real snowfall of the season on Tuesday and Wednesday.

One area of North Dakota saw 10 inches of snow. More on that in a minute.

Not only does it appear that winter-like temperatures are here to stay with our fresh powder on the ground, but we won't have to wait long for our next accumulating snow event.

According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, snow will develop over much of the state on Saturday afternoon and linger through late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Total accumulations are still up in the air, as we are a few days out, but it could be a "shovable" amount for much of North Dakota.

It doesn't appear there will be nearly as much wind with this system compared to this past week's storm which brought blizzard conditions to much of north-central North Dakota.

This weather pattern that we are entering sure lines up with the earlier fall prediction made by many agencies back in August.

We were predicted to have a very warm fall but when winter would hit, it would flip like a light switch and that appears to be the situation.  The 10-day long-range forecast has no temperatures above freezing.
