According to the North Dakota Department of Transportation, the Real ID drivers license allows you to use your drivers license as a form of identification.

All US travelers must have a Real ID if they want to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.
Different federal facilities you might have difficulties accessing if without a Real ID include, military installations, and court houses.
What You Need To Get One
What you need to get a Real ID one you need proof of identification is as follows, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation:
Proof of Identification
- U.S. Birth Certificate (state certified; government issued)
- U.S. Territory Birth Certificate
- Valid U.S. Passport
- Report of Birth Abroad issued by the U.S. Department of State
- Certificate of Naturalization
- Certificate of Citizenship
- Valid, unexpired Permanent Resident Card
- Valid, unexpired Employment Authorization Card
- Valid, unexpired Foreign Passport with I-94
- I-94 Card stamped Refugee or Asylee
You will also need a proof of name change, if your current name is different than the one on your identification document, proof of social security number, and proof of North Dakota residence.
