Times are often a-changin', as Bob Dylan once said. This definitely rings true across the state of North Dakota.

Over the years, we've seen many new things appear and open, and sadly, we've also seen many businesses get sold off and/or close.

The Bronze Boot Steakhouse and Lounge in Grand Forks has been closed since 2012.

Many of us have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries at the restaurant, so for years, we have been holding out hope that someone will swoop in and restore it to its former glory.

Sadly, that is a dream we no longer hold onto.

The boot sign was sold off in 2014 and displayed locally at Home of Economy.

It looks like this piece of history is once again up for sale.

The sign is listed at K-Bid.com. It was originally listed for a mere $5, but since January 16th, when it first went up on the auction site, it has gone up to $1,576.

About the Boot

The sign is in good shape. Considering the sign first went up in 1954, that's pretty impressive. The sign has been removed from the store, and while it was getting taken down, one bulb did end up getting broken. According to the listing, all other bulbs remained intact.

We spoke to Jonathan Norberg at North County Auctions about the sign, and he informed us that bidding will be open until next Thursday evening (January 30th, 2025).

Purchasing the sign would be the perfect way to keep what was once a community gem alive and well. If you wish to hold onto this piece of North Dakota history, you better hurry and start bidding.
