We're always looking for fun things to do with our families that don't involve sitting in front of a screen. I might have found the perfect thing for you to try.

North Dakota has a new board game called "Strike it Rich."

Well, "new" might not be the most accurate description, as the creator has been developing and fine-tuning it since 1996.

According to KFYR-TV, the creator is a man named Mitch Haugeberg.

Haugeberg and his family are North Dakota natives; they are all from Watford City.

The source explained that Haugeberg wanted to create a game that took all of the best aspects of other successful board games, and make it into something more fun and new.

Haugeberg started a Kickstarter campaign in 2022 to help with production costs and rollout.

How Does It Work?

According to the Strike it Rich website, you need at least two people to play.

It's described as a financial literacy game that is fun for people ages 13 to 100. The site says it's similar to both Monopoly and The Game of Life.

The object of the game is to have the most money by the end of the game. Each player goes around the board ten times, representing a 10-year time frame.

As each player moves around the board, they are given opportunities to increase or accumulate more wealth, or they can make choices that might lead them to bankruptcy.

Where to Buy

How cool is it that we have a relatively new board game that was created right here in North Dakota? If you want to give it a try, it is available on Etsy, and even at Walmart.com.

Right now, the game is priced at around $89.99.

Give it a try, and let us know your thoughts.
