As convenient and easy it is to stream your favorite shows and movies with just the click of a button, we still miss the good old-fashioned experience of going to the movie store.

Movie Nostalgia

Going to places like Blockbuster and Family Video to pick out a new movie to watch each week is something many of us loved doing. As a matter of fact, I worked at one of these places when I was young-it was one of my first jobs.

The entire job was alphabetizing, straightening the movies on the rack, scanning movies, and selling snacks. It was awesome. I even got to watch all the new releases before everyone else.

The only downside was occasionally having to go back to the not-so-family-friendly room to put back those x-rated rentals. Vigorous hand-washing right after was a must.

While I often wish there was a way to bring these stores back, sadly, times have changed. It would be hard or nearly impossible to make that happen.

That said, did you know there is a place in Bismarck where you can still rent DVDs? Yep, it's true you can rent up to five DVDs at a time, and hang on to them for a week.

Where To Rent DVDs In Bismarck

Where can you go to experience this nostalgia? All you have to do is go to your local library.

I hadn't set foot in a library in a very long time, let alone read a book, but I wandered into the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Library and noticed there was a whole section where you can rent DVDs.

I know it's not quite the experience we had growing up, but it's definitely something you can make into a fun experience.

You can take your family there, pick out one DVD, go home, pop some popcorn, and have a little movie premiere of sorts in your living room. Blanket forts required.
