We all do it -- we run around at the very last minute trying to get all of the things we need for the Thanksgiving holiday. We "wing" it. (Turkey pun)

Most North Dakotans like to indulge in wine and other holiday spirits, so we have to ask the question: can you buy alcohol on Thanksgiving Day?

Gobble Up the Info:

Well, as it turns out, North Dakota's laws have a few twists --like a corkscrew!

According to the North Dakota Attorney General, no off-sale liquor can be sold after 2:00 am on Thanksgiving. Yep, if you don't stock up before the clock strikes 2, you are toast (or without a toast, if you want to get technical).

Regular rules apply for the rest of the week with sales being banned between 2:00 and 8:00 am.

Keep in mind local ordinances may be stricter, though Bismarck and Mandan both follow this 2:00 am rule.

If you plan on toasting this holiday, plan ahead! Grab you festive beverages early.

No Turkey Trots Behind The Wheel

If you do, plan ahead and are able to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with a few drinks, remember, drinking and driving is a recipe for disaster.

Vision Zero North Dakota (ND Sober Ride) offers Lyft vouchers every year, so North Dakotans can get wherever they need to go safely.

Check out their website to get that discount code.

From our flock to yours, enjoy the delicious food, family time, and stay safe. We hope your Thanksgiving is full of gravy and good times.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
