Disturbing Animal Cruelty In Sidney, MT – Suspect Wanted
Sidney PD Investigating Separate Animal Abuse Cases – Help Needed
I came across a heartbreaking post from the Annie Oakley Animal Rescue Facebook page about a disturbing act of animal cruelty in Sidney, MT.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in the 600 block of 9th Ave SW and was captured on a home surveillance camera. Sidney police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Morning Incident:
At around 5:30 a.m., a neighbor witnessed a man beating an animal before throwing it into a dumpster. The witness couldn’t tell whether it was a cat or a rabbit. When officers arrived, they found a terrified cat inside—just moments before the garbage truck came. The cat was taken to the vet, then cared for by Annie Oakley Animal Rescue, and has since been reunited with her family.
Police Investigation & Suspect Information
The video reveals the cat squealing in distress as the suspect appears to strangle her before violently tossing her into the dumpster. If you recognize the person, contact Sidney PD immediately. 406-433-2210.

Shockingly, the suspect returned the next morning shortly before 6:00, possibly to check if the cat was still in the dumpster (again captured on video). Police have received multiple tips.
Acts of cruelty like this are beyond comprehension, and it’s chilling to think about what kind of person is capable of such things. There's a well-known link between animal abuse and violent crimes, which makes it all the more important to identify and stop this individual. Hopefully, justice is served quickly.
