It Was A Fun Summer Season In Williston!

Labor Day came and went, and fall is just around the corner. If your holiday weekend was anything like mine, it was extremely restful! Between naps, and snacks, I thought about just how busy our summer was. There was no shortage of things to do, and I wanted to touch on my top five events for Williston. These are in no particular order.

Summer Nights on Main

This was a nine week event hosted by the Williston Downtowners Association and weekly sponsors. It was a great time to come together with great music, food and fun for the whole community. I ran into more people at this event, and enjoyed all the conversations along the way. If you have not been to Summer Nights on Main, make plans to attend next year. No summer is complete without attending!

Babe Ruth World Series

Who doesn't enjoy a baseball game? Williston hosted its 5th World Series August 13-20, 2022 at Ardean Aafedt Stadium. Teams from Arkansas, Wisconsin, California, Fargo, Massachusetts, Florida, Pennsylvania and Williston participated. It was reported that over 42,000 people attended this event that featured music, food, fireworks and baseball!

Upper Missouri Valley Fair

The 2022 Upper Missouri Valley Fair was June 22-26, 2022 at the fairgrounds in Williston. This is where I feel at home. I served on the UMVF fair board for twenty fairs, and I know what goes into this event. Weather did not cooperate everyday, but with the rides, music, food, 4H and livestock events, it was a fun fair!

2022 Drone Show

This was simply amazing! I have rarely been around a drone, and have never seen a drone light show. Williston had one in conjunction with the Babe Ruth World Series. It only lasted fifteen minutes, but this was a huge event for Williston, and it really added to an already fun summer.

Band Day is simply a Williston tradition. It was a great way to kick off a busy summer season. It was great to see friends, family and citizens from far and wide come out to keep the tradition going.

Remember, these events are in no order. Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers that made it a great summer. I am sure fall will be just as busy!
