If World War 3 Breaks Out North Dakota Will Be A Nuke Magnet

With another geo-political conflict waging on the other side of the world, we have to once again ask ourselves: how much of a target would we be here in North Dakota?

Outside of some key instillations or command posts around the country, or maybe not even outside of them, North Dakota may be one of the first targets given it's military bases, enhanced drone operations, and substantial nuclear stockpile.

Minot Air Force Base has an estimate of more than 1200 nuclear armaments, with more than 800 available for use through stationed B-52 bombers and over 400 warheads for Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles, which makes North Dakota the largest Air Force stockpile.

If one average-sized (500 kiloton) nuclear bomb were to be detonated at Minot AFB, which would be a high possibility, casualties would already be in the tens of thousands. With a 15-mph wind, fallout from the explosion could reach as far west as Wolf Point, Montana, or as far east as Grand Forks, depending on direction.

Grand Forks Air Force Base itself would be another likely target, especially with the stockpile of Predator B Unmanned Aircraft Systems, although it would not be the only one throughout the state.

Sprinkled throughout North Dakota's vast countryside are the aforementioned 400+ Minuteman III ICBM's. In a pre-emptive strike, as many of those sites as possible would be targeted.

Should a global nuclear war break out, there is a distinct possibility that between North Dakota and Montana, we would be on the receiving end of dozens, if not hundreds, of nukes.
