Hey Williston, See You At The Gym On Monday
It's the most wonderful time of the year! We celebrate Thanksgiving with family, friends, football and food! Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. Throw in a roll or two, lots of gravy and maybe even some wine, and you have a feast to be proud of. This meal alone can total around 2500 to 4500 calories. That's almost twice the recommended daily amount. It's so worth it, right?
Have you ever thought about how much exercise it takes to burn off that big meal? According to dailyburn, it is a lot!
1 slice of apple pie 411 calories 5k trot (10 mins/mile)
1 slice of pumpkin pie 316 calories 60 minutes of yoga
buttered roll 210 calories flag football (20 minutes)
1/2 cup of sweet potato casserole 200 calories spinning (18 minutes)
6 ounces of turkey breast 195 calories ice skating (50 minutes)
1/2 cup of egg nog 190 calories crossfit (13 minutes)
1/2 cup of stuffing 180 calories stair running (10 minutes)
2 ounces of corn bread 160 calories swimming (15 laps)
6 ounces of red wine 150 calories walking (35 minutes)
1/2 cup of mashed potatoes 120 calories weight training (35 minutes)
1/2 cup of green bean casserole 70 calories dancing (14 minutes)
1/4 cup of gravy 45 calories 50 burpees
1/4 cup of cranberry sauce 37 calories push ups (3 sets of 20)
Is it just me, or are the portions WAY off? Who eats ounces of turkey and gravy? This is Thanksgiving! It's a time to celebrate! All of this stuff is good...some of it is really good! My advice for one and all is to find some comfy pants, sturdy chairs, comfortable forks and spoons, and a big bib. Belly up, and be thankful. Be thankful for your family and friends, your job, your home and your health. It has been quite a year. Enjoy the day. Oh, and I will see you all at the gym come Monday morning.
