If you’ve been dreaming of beach days, backyard BBQs, and drinking lemonade under the sun, your wish is about to come true—but maybe a little too true. I saw over the weekend that we’re in for some serious heat and sunshine this summer. According to AccuWeather, we’re looking at a scorcher of a season with frequent heat waves and worsening drought conditions expected across a big chunk of the country.

That’s right—North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana, we’re all invited to the Great Summer Bake-Off of 2025. Bring sunscreen, a fan, and maybe a popsicle or two.

Sizzling Summer Ahead: North Dakota Braces for Three Months of Heat

AccuWeather’s long-range forecasters are predicting a hotter-than-normal summer, which kicks off (meteorologically speaking) on Sunday, June 1, and sticks around through the end of August. That’s three full months of sizzling sidewalks, sizzling grills, and possibly sizzling tempers if the AC gives out.

Heat, High Bills, and Hazards: North Dakota's Summer Won’t Hold Back

With rising temps comes rising energy bills—so brace yourself. Your air conditioner might just become your most loyal companion this summer, and your utility bill might look like it’s trying to join an elite club of high rollers.

Also in the mix? Severe weather and the threat of wildfires, because we all know that Mother Nature likes to keep things exciting.

Wouldn't Hurt To Be Prepared

So, the moral of the story? Be prepared. Test your air conditioner now. Stock up on water, shade your pets, water your plants (if you’re allowed to), and plan accordingly. Summer’s about to turn up the heat, and you don’t want to be caught unprepared—or without your favorite pair of flip-flops.
