On Monday, July 8, 2024, at approximately 5:05 PM, a serious collision occurred on Highway 1804 near mile marker 333, about two miles west of Trenton. The crash involved a 2019 Can-Am Defender and a 2006 Ford F-150. The weather conditions were sunny, and the road was dry at the time of the incident.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), the Can-Am Defender, driven by a 70-year-old male from Williston, ND, was traveling northbound on 147th Ave NW. As it approached the intersection with Highway 1804, the vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the highway. The Ford F-150, driven by Jesus Jalomo Salas, a 27-year-old male from Mexico, was heading eastbound on Highway 1804. Despite efforts to brake, the Ford could not avoid the collision and struck the Can-Am on its front driver side.
The Can-Am came to a stop in the middle of Highway 1804 facing east, while the Ford ended up in the north ditch, also facing east. The driver of the Can-Am sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to CHI St. Alexis Hospital in Williston before being flown to Trinity Hospital in Minot for further treatment. Both the driver and the passenger of the Ford F-150, 22-year-old Kedrik Solis from Washington, were unharmed.
The NDHP, along with the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williston Ambulance, Trenton Fire, and other first responders, attended the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
