Where To Sign Up For Hunter Education Classes In Eastern Montana

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is offering a series of hunter and bowhunter education classes across central and eastern Montana this summer, with additional opportunities expected to be added throughout the year.

In-person hunter education classes are scheduled to begin in several communities, including Lodge Pole on July 8, Sidney on July 27, Dodson on Aug. 1, Glasgow on Aug. 3 and Harlem on Aug. 21. These courses are open to students ages 10 and older and are offered at no cost.

For those who complete the online hunter education course, field days are also planned in multiple locations. Sessions are set for Scobey on July 12, Great Falls on July 13, Glasgow on July 27, Miles City on Aug. 8, Glasgow again on Aug. 14 and Great Falls on Aug. 17. Students must complete the online portion, which typically takes six to eight hours, before registering for a field day. State regulations allow students who are 11 and turning 12 by Jan. 16 of the license year to participate. Adults may also attend field days for hands-on experience.

Bowhunter education opportunities are also available. An in-person class is scheduled in Sidney beginning July 27 for students at least 11 years old.

Bowhunter field days for online participants are set for Scobey on July 12, Glasgow on July 21 and Miles City on Aug. 8. As with hunter education, completion of the online course is required before attending.
