Bought an Igloo Cooler in North Dakota? It Might Be on the Recall List!
Take note before the weather breaks and you start grabbing for a cold one in your new cooler!
Following claims of severe finger injuries, a well-known brand in the cooler market, Igloo, is recalling more than one million of its 90-quart Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) claims the corporation has gotten 12 reports of fingertip injuries including amputations, bone fractures, and severe wounds.

Why Are the Coolers Being Recalled?
A safety problem with the cooler's tow handle—which might pinch users' fingertips—caused the recall. The design flaw poses a significant risk of injury, leading the company and the CPSC to urge consumers to stop using the coolers immediately.
How to Identify the Recalled Coolers
You can check if your cooler is part of the recall by looking for these key features:
- Manufacture Date: The affected coolers were made before January 2024. The manufacture date can be found imprinted in a circular pattern on the bottom of the cooler, with an arrow pointing to the month and the last two digits of the year.
- Tow Handle: The recalled models all feature a tow handle, which is the part responsible for the injuries.
- Branding: The word “IGLOO” is printed on the side of the cooler.
- Color Variations: The recalled coolers were sold in a variety of colors.
Where were these coolers sold?
Major stores, including Costco, Target, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and others all throughout the country carried the impacted coolers for sale. They were also available on the Amazon website, and through Igloo's website.
How Should You Handle a Recalled Cooler You Own?
If you own one of these coolers, stop using it immediately. Visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website for a list of recalled model numbers, explanations, and date codes. Igloo could offer more direction on how to replace or fix the impacted items.
Now is the time to examine your coolers, especially if you just bought one, and be ready for all those upcoming outdoor activities!
