I have always felt that if or when there’s a need in life, no matter what it is, work, service to mankind, lending a hand, or making something better, and if you are able and capable of providing that service…. You should. A long-standing program offered on KEYZ, 660 AM radio, the Trading Post, has kind of been “my baby” for a long time; I don’t know how many years. But, nine years ago, April of 2015, I made the decision to retire from full-time radio broadcasting, my career field since the fall of 1967. I stepped back from a full-time career that I loved, but did stay with the company to offer my engineering skills and to help maintain our studio equipment and transmitter sites on a part-time, as needed basis. In the fall of 2023, Townsquare Media again needed someone to do the Trading Post. Scott Haugen called on me. Hesitant at first, I agreed to come back to the air-waves for one hour a day, and give the ol’ Trading Post a try. This one-hour a day “gig” has turned out to be one of the most important hours of my entire day! I can’t begin to tell you how much I am enjoying being “back on the air”, taking calls from all over the countryside from folks who have something to sell, something to trade, or looking for something. Every day, I talk to folks who don’t realize that I’m back, doing what I used to do, and having a great time doing it. To me, radio has always been an important community public service to inform and entertain the listening public. I cordially invite you to join me every weekday at 11:15am, and we’ll have fun together, with the KEYZ, 660 Trading Post!
