A Decades-Long Tradition, Williston’s Guns vs. Hoses Softball Game Set for September 10th
Williston, ND (KEYZ) A Williston rivalry for over five decades, the 53rd Annual Guns vs. Hoses softball game takes to the Ardean Aafedt Stadium field Saturday, September 10, 2022.
"The Williston Police Association has been hosting this event since 1969," said Williston Police Association Vice President Calli Stellmacher. "We actually dug in some archives and found all the original documentation and pictures from that first event which is pretty awesome."
This year, the event has been changed from a Friday afternoon to an-all day affair on Saturday to include a number of things happening just outside Aafedt Stadium in Davidson Park.
"There will be lots of activities in Davidson Park," said Williston Police Association President Amanda Prentice." "There's going to be food trucks, vendors, the jumpy castles for the kids and face painting. All of that will go up until about 2:00 p.m. which is when the gates will open for the game, and then the first pitch will actually be thrown at 3:00."
Prentice says this chock-filled day kicks-off with a corn hole tournament, registration for which takes place at 9:00 a.m. with bags flying at 9:30. The entry fee for the tournament is $100; however, corn hole enthusiasts will be happy to learn that 50-percent of those fees will go to the tournament winner with the other 50-percent going to a charity chosen by the Williston Police Association.
Entrance to the game is just $5.00; kids 12 and under are free. For more information, check out the event on the Williston Police Association Facebook page.
