Bismarck, ND (KEYZ) Williston High School has the honor of performing for the governor in the state’s capitol Wednesday serving at the Pleasure of the Governor.
The Group was named the Governor’s Official State Band for 2016-17. Band Director Eric Rooke tells News Radio it was a pleasure to play for Governor Burgum and the legislators in session:
“We got to set up in the legislative hall, right between the two chambers. And do a little performance for them. We played four pieces of music and the Governor was in attendance along with all of our local representation form Williston,” says Rooke.
Rooke says the band was unable to attend in January, as originally scheduled, for the opening day of the Legislative Assembly, but a little late is a lot better than never and one could see it in the eyes of each and every band member.
“For them that pride to represent Williston High School and Williston as a community in a state wide fashion is so powerful. I think it is something that they are going to enjoy and remember for the rest of their lives,” says Rooke.
Due to a blizzard, the band had to postpone their performance until this week.
