Williston, ND (KEYZ) A bond hearing has been set for 3 pm Monday afternoon for 27-year-old Alex Eggleston of Minot, charged in connection with the fatal shooting that took place at about ten till three Friday morning in the parking lot of Super 8 Motel.
Police reports say an inebriated Eggleston came out of his motel room, and continually badgered the victim, 43 year old Vance Neset who had been chatting with a friend, Gilmore Knutson. The two refused his repeated requests for alcohol and cigarettes. When Neset told Eggleston to leave them alone, Eggleston retreated to his room, and returned with handgun, and fired numerous shots, hitting Neset, who died minutes later at CHI ST Alexius Health.
Eggleston fled on foot and was caught later that morning by a SWAT team. About a half dozen shell casings were found in the parking lot, and police are continuing to look for the gun, which Lt. Jacob Gregory tells news radio was probably ditched by Eggleston as he fled.
Neset is remembered as a good person who worked at Neset Consulting firm. Eggleston meanwhile is no stranger to law enforcement having a record for robbery, weapons and drugs charges.
